Blackjack Pairs Strategy

When playing blackjack, every once in a while you’ll get pairs. If you do, you have the option to split the pairs. Often times, a player will split a blackjack pair in order to try and double their winnings. However, you need to know what you are doing and understand the risks. If you lose, you could lose double your original bet. So, before you get all excited with your next set of pairs, be sure you’ve done your homework and know what you are doing.

Blackjack in its most basic essence is not a complicated game at all. However, casinos aren’t stupid and would never give a player higher odds of winning than themselves. So, don’t let the simplicity of the game fool you. Also, each casino might have slightly different rules so be sure you understand each casinos blackjack rules before playing.

When getting pairs, base your decision to split on the face-up card of the dealer. If they have a high card, assume the face-down card is a 10 or better. If you haven’t done any card counting you could be in line to lose the bet. As a rule, always split for blackjack when you get a pair of aces and a pair of eights.

Conversely, never split a pair of tens, you should stand in this case instead. If you have a pair that isn’t aces, eights or tens, then your split will depend on the dealer’s face up card. This strategy can go more in depth so it’s up to you to do some research on this effective method.
